Beginning Spring 2019, there will be monthly deadlines for proposals requiring Full Review. Lafayette IRB conducts reviews of research proposals that qualify for Exempt or Expedited Review on a rolling basis. The length of review time depends on the type of review and whether the proposal is submitted during the school year or over the summer.

In all cases, the proposal should be submitted at least 30 days before data collection is scheduled to begin or a grant submission is due.

Proposals that require Full Review are discussed once a month at our scheduled meetings.

IRB Meeting Dates and Full Review Proposal Submission Deadlines for the Spring 2024 semester are shown below.  Please note that any research projects that expect to begin data collection in summer or early fall 2024 must be submitted by April 26, 2023 to ensure that IRB review is not delayed until September 2024.

During The School Year

While school is in session, Exempt and Expedited initial reviews are usually returned within two weeks. Full Reviews are usually completed within a month. If revisions are needed, the time for review may be longer than these general guidelines.

During the Summer

Anyone who is planning to begin data collection during the summer or early in the fall should ensure that the proposal is submitted 30 days before the end of the spring semester.  Only under exceptional circumstances will proposals be reviewed during the summer.
